Michael Jackson Verdict - Psychological Implications - International Trauma Associates

Michael Jackson Verdict – Psychological Implications

Los Angeles-Michael Jackson is an, ‘American Tragedy’ and regardless of the verdict of his molestation trial, “These proceedings have dealt a fatal blow to his overall image and future career goals that will next to impossible to recover.” This according to Los Angeles trauma psychologist Robert R. Butterworth, Ph.D., who has extensive experience evaluating child abuse victims and perpetrators as well as observing first hand Michael Jackson interacting with his fans.

Dr. Butterworth believes that career wise the nature of the verdict is irrelevant “The taint of this child abuse trial will haunt Jackson’s career for the rest of his life guilty or innocent.”

Dr. Butterworth also believes that due to Michael Jackson’s, ‘fragile psyche’ a verdict of guilty could drive the superstar —Over the edge, towards a severe emotional breakdown and even suicide.

“Michael Jackson has been able to establish emotional control by creating a, ‘Neverland state of mind’ by the use of money, power and superstar status. Incarceration would strip him of this ability to maintain this fantasy world, plunging him into a fierce reality that he may not have the emotional resilience to overcome.” Says the trauma expert.

The psychologist views Jackson as a truly tragic figure, “A career that robbed him of his boyhood. A childhood lost that unfortunately Jackson has spent the rest of his life attempting to regain. “A boy/man conflict focused on living a lost youth by means of a fantasy existence.”

Dr. Butterworth who has observed Michael Jackson firsthand interacting with his fans at his, public birthday party, feels that in order for any semblance of a career to be resurrected Jackson will have to move beyond cult figure status focused on a select group of devoted fans onto the music mainstream. “A task that may prove impossible for this reclusive, King of Pop.” Says the trauma expert.

The Psychologist is available to discuss the psychological ramifications of the verdict.

Psychologist and media commentator, Robert R. Butterworth, Ph.D., has assisted radio, TV, and print media since 1984 find answers and provide insight to enhance understanding of psychological issues on a variety of topics. Dr. Butterworth has conducted extensive surveys focused on children and youth, social, political and trauma issues. His comments, observations and op-ed articles have appeared in most of the major newspapers in the United States and worldwide. He is seen quite often on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and CNN network news especially during monumental events such as violence, disasters and youth tragedies and psychological reactions to breaking news and human event stories.

Appearances also include ABC’s Nightline, and This Week, CNN’s Larry King Live, NBC’s, Oprah, Dateline NBC, and Good Morning America. CBS This Morning, The O’Reilly, Factor, Extra and Entertainment Tonight and many network talk and news programs. He is also featured as a psychology expert in various documentaries seen on Discovery, History, E -Entertainment and the Learning Channel. Dr Butterworth also serves as a psychology expert for public relations organizations and is a past consultant for a national Magazine. In addition Dr Butterworth recently had a cameo spot in a major motion picture, "Kate and Leopold," with Meg Ryan and Michael Moore’s "Bowling For Columbine."

You're Hired! - As Season 3 of The Apprentice comes to a close - Brian Osuch

You're Hired!

As Season 3 of The Apprentice comes to a close, the competition is heating up. One former contestant shares his thoughts on the experience.

ANCHOR LEAD: As Season 3 of The Apprentice comes to a close, the competition is heating up. One former contestant shares his thoughts on the experience. Brian Osuch has more. (:60)

SCRIPT: Entertainment Now, I'm Brian Osuch. One of the most popular candidates in Season 2 of The Apprentice was the bowtie-wearing Raj Bhakta. Whether he was cleaning dogs in Central Park or hitting on Anna Kournikova, Bhakta's charisma made him a fan favorite. Raj, how would you describe your experience on The Apprentice?

CUT: (Bhakta) It was a hugely popular experience overall. I mean, you get to work with eighteen type-a personalities - all highly intelligent, highly charged, and interested in driving a dagger down your back at the end of the day. And, you get in there and you work with Trump and you do great tasks. It's a tremendous experience. And, you get famous! That's a good thing too.

SCRIPT: Tell me a little about the latest task for the Season 3 candidates.

CUT: (Bhakta) Two teams have to design a first 1,000 order program for a new Pontiac Solstice. Which is a new roadster that Pontiac has come out with. It's got tremendous lines, it's a sexy machine. It's a really, really cool project, and I think really good training for these guys when they got to work for Trump.

Memorial Day Quotes - Memorial Day Quotations, Memorial Day Sayings

Memorial Day Quotes and Memorial Day Stories
Memorial Day Quotes

We come, not to mourn our dead soldiers, but to praise them.
- Francis A. Walker

Decoration Day
by Thelly Reahm © Tidbits of Time
1995

Time was, when millions of Americans placed flowers on the graves of family
members and war heroes...it was called Decoration Day. The custom was begun
in 1865 in Waterloo, New York, to commemorate those killed in action in the
Civil War. After WW I, Congress decreed May 30th a national holiday to
honor the dead in all American wars. Disabled Veterans sold poppy's each
holiday to raise funds for Veterans Hospitals (from the words about poppy's
wave in Flanders Field). In 1971 lawmakers moved the holiday to the last
Monday in May in order to give Federal workers a three-day weekend....I
don't
know for sure, but it was probably done at midnight on the last day Congress
was in session.

In the Thirties I used to tiptoe across the granite markers at Loma Vista
Cemetery as a child. Somehow, walking on the raised mounds of grass made me
queasy. Decoration Day was a whole family outing. The flowers we placed on
our family's graves were fresh picked from our yards and gently placed in
rusty vases set into the hard ground. Sweet Peas, Stock, Snap Dragons and
even the lowly yellow nasturtiums that wandered over the edge of the wash
out back of our house would make a colorful bouquet....we grew them well.
Then we weeded around our family gravestones and polished the marker until
we could see our faces in them. There was Grampa Hyder, Uncle Ed, Cousin
Lawrence (shot in the hunting accident when he was twelve) and Grandpa and
Grandma Miller (my half-brother's grandparents) and Cousin Ouita who died
in Alaska.

It was a bit different then than today....there's more of a
military flavor now to the happenings, with bands and marching Scout Troups.
Perhaps because we've had so many more wars. And now the fields of grass
are strewn with plastic flowers. Not all change is good.

For those of you with strong family ties or a bent toward continuing these
stories or our genealogy program in the computer, I feel it is important
for you to know the burial places of your ancestors.

I, personally, have willed my body to the University of California San
Diego (La Jolla Campus) for medical study. After any organs are used for
transplant or study, the remainder will be cremated and the ashes
scattered at sea. I find it a bit poetic that in life I couldn't swim a
stroke, but in death I will become a water baby!

So, there won't be a graveside of mine for you to place memorial flowers,
or weeds to trim around a granite stone. You needn't clutter your mind with
a dim memory of where my plot is. Most of us are so distraught at a
Memorial Service that we can't begin to remember the location of our loved
one's casket laden with flowers. And as the list of our family members
denotes, the body has been placed in a cemetery near the town in which
they died. If you have moved away from that area it is all the more
difficult.

Instead I am giving you a different kind of memorial. I give my book of
memories "Tidbits of Time" and this poem penned just for you:

Scattered At Sea

I will be in the waves you ride,
on the morning tide....

I will be in the warm, coarse sand
you smooth with your hand....

I will be on the soaring wings,
of the bird that sings.....

I will be diadems in waves
As they flow in caves....

I will be in the night moon glade,
And damp morning shade href="http://www.a-christmas-carol.com/stories/memorial-day.html">Memorial Day Stories

Stories

I have often asked myself why human beings have any rights at all. I always come to the conclusion that human

rights, human freedoms, and human dignity have their deepest roots somewhere outside the perceptible world.

These values are as powerful as they are because, under certain circumstances, people accept them without

compulsion and are willing to die for them.

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Takes on Nascar

For most people, the opportunity to take a spin around the track in a NASCAR racecar would be the ride of a lifetime. For driver Greg Biffle, it's just a typical day. But yesterday wasn't his average ride when he got behind the wheel of a 27-ft long hot dog known as the world-famous Wienermobile.

ANCHOR LEAD: Start your Wienermobile engines! Not your usual NASCAR start, but Matt Kelly tells the story in this report. (:60)

SCRIPT: Lifestyles, I'm Matt Kelly.

CUT: (Biffle) I know how to handle a race car pretty well, so I was confident taking a few laps in this big dog.

SCRIPT: Biffle and three other NASCAR drivers circled the track at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, making pit stops for hot dogs as part of Oscar Mayer's Ride of Your Life contest, where you can win the Wienermobile for the day and up to $5000 to make your ultimate dream ride a reality.

CUT: (Biffle) For me, this was an awesome ride of a lifetime - actually hitting the track in the Wienermobile is something I'll never forget.

At this Sunday's Indianapolis 500, Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan holds the coveted pole position.

Tony Kanaan Holds The Coveted Spot in the Indy 500

ANCHOR LEAD: The Indianapolis 500 is this Sunday, and the best place to start is the pole position. Jon McNally has more (:57)

SCRIPT: Entertainment Now, I'm Jon McNally. At this Sunday's Indianapolis 500, Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan holds the coveted pole position. Tony, are you happy with the way things went on qualifying day?

CUT: (Kanaan) Definitely, I mean, starting from the pole it's the best place to start. We had a pretty good run on qualifying day, so just getting ready, getting ready for the race. And, obviously it feels good up until race day when the green flag drops. People won't remember who started first.

SCRIPT: Is the Indy 500 the highpoint on your racing calendar?

CUT (Kanaan) For sure, I mean obviously the championship, it's very important. And it's very difficult to win as well because it's seventeen races, but we all talk about the championship. Once we get in the month of May, we only talk about Indy, and then we get on after Indy, either you're very happy or you're disappointed, and you start to think about the championship again.

SCRIPT: Tune in to the Indianapolis 500 this Sunday at 12 noon Eastern on ABC-TV. That's Entertainment Now from ABC-Sports. I'm Jon McNally.

Movie Club with John Ridley - Join the Club! Popular AMC Show Gears Up for Second Season

"Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith" is finally here, and critics are already formulating their opinions. "Movie Club with John Ridley" kicks off its second season on AMC with a review of the much-awaited prequel.

SCRIPT: Entertainment Now, I'm Roberta Facinelli. "Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith" is finally here, and critics are already formulating their opinions. "Movie Club with John Ridley" kicks off its second season on AMC with a review of the much-awaited prequel. Ridley talks with Nathan Rabin, Anderson Jones, Dr. Josh Kun and Zorianna Kit.

CUT: (Group) One thing about doing this "Star Wars," it's different than doing the other stuff. You really know where this one is ending...Anakin Skywalker is going to be Darth Vader...I'm sorry, I don't mean to spoil it...there's so much stuff that's built in...yes, there is a thrill in seeing it all put together because you know exactly where it's gonna end...the thing about that is what it does is it makes "Revenge of the Sith" the most important and the only necessary prequel. It makes the other two completely insignificant.

Housing Bubble or The Bogeyman Under the Bed
May 11 , 2005 by Steve Mullis

Recently there has been much discussion and speculation about a phrase that sends shivers down the spines of realtors and home owners alike...”The Housing Bubble”.

Having looked at data from a variety of sources and attending a presentation for top named economists, the future of Arizona housing is clearing up nicely.

Developments that can affect the housing market are many...interest rates, employment, population increases or decreases, consumer confidence, the “Housing Affordability Index” the livability index, population age, etc.

Now Universal Studios Home Entertainment unleashes its most popular and revered horror character of the past 25 years in his fifth movie outing -- Chucky, every horror fan's favorite notorious killer doll. Spawned by the immensely successful 1988 film, "Child's Play," the $200 million franchise is back and bloodier than ever in "Seed of Chucky Unrated and Fully Extended," coming to DVD on June 7, 2005. Show's" Jay Leno about the blood, sweat, and tears that go into working
with Chucky and Redman. Especially the blood.

Artwork of 13 Mesa students wins spot in 2006 conservation calendar

Artwork of 13 Mesa students wins spot in 2006 conservation calendar

The artwork of 13 talented students was chosen from more than 900 entries
submitted by second- and fourth-grade students from 35 Mesa elementary
schools in the sixth annual Water-Use It Wisely Art and Calendar Contest.
The winning artwork will be featured in a 2006 water conservation calendar.
The winning students are:

Reagan Babione Grade 2 Redeemer Christian School
Callie Barney Grade 4 Entz
Jesus Calvillo Grade 4 Emerson
Payton Henderson Grade 2 Johnson
Sadie Jones Grade 2 Hermosa Vista
Max Jones Grade 4 Hermosa Vista
Connor Legg Grade 2 Crismon
Kara Ludlow Grade 4 Entz
Kedrick Mitchell Grade 2 Crismon
Kianna Rupp Grade 4 Red Mountain Ranch
Savanna Rush Grade 4 Hermosa Vista
Halline Shin Grade 2 Wilson
Taylor Wilson Grade 4 Hermosa Vista

The students were recognized April 29 at an awards celebration, which
included a presentation by Vice Mayor Claudia Walters and a reading of
"Lizards for Lunch: A Roadrunner's Tale," by award-winning children's
author Conrad Storad.

The City of Mesa Utilities Conservation Office sponsored the contest in
partnership with the Bureau of Reclamation and Mesa Public Schools. The
Bureau provides financial support through grant funding.

"This is a great program that educates both students and the general
populace on the importance of water conservation," said Bob Michaels,
division manager, Program Development, Bureau of Reclamation.

Second- and fourth-grade students in Mesa were eligible to enter the
competition, which offers the students an opportunity to apply water
conservation concepts they are currently learning.

"Water conversation is an important part of desert living," said Dr. Debra
Duvall, superintendent of Mesa Public Schools. "We appreciate the
opportunity to work with the City of Mesa to provide classroom activities
that help our young people learn more about being good citizens."

Contest, call Becky Zusy, Utilities conservation specialist, at (480)
