Marc Scher Named New Chair of the Phoenix Pride Commission

Marc Scher, vice president of government affairs and information technology, Phoenix Association of REALTORS®, has been named by the mayor and City Council as chairman of the Phoenix Pride Commission.
Scher has been a member of the commission since 2001 and was chairman of the Walk of Pride Committee. The Phoenix Pride Commission was created in 1991 to foster a sense of community pride among Phoenix and Valley residents. Several of the positive programs initiated by the commission include Sunday on Central, the Points of Pride competition and the Walk of Pride program.
Prior to joining the Phoenix Association of REALTORS® in 1994, Scher was an aide for former Phoenix Mayor Paul Johnson, for whom he was a constituent advocate and spokesperson. As a representative of the mayor, he helped introduce a unique multi-city program, “The Arizona Holiday DUI Task Force,” which was a recipient of the U.S. Conference of Mayors/Century Council “Community Partnership Award.”
Scher is past legislative relations chairman of the University of Arizona, Phoenix Alumni board of directors. He also authored and lobbied the passage of Arizona H.B. 2226 re. Small Claims Court during the 1995-96 legislative session, is a former member of the Public Affairs Professionals of Arizona, served on the 2006 Phoenix Citizens’ Bond Committee Arts and Culture subcommittee and sits on the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee and Airport subcommittee.
Scher earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Arizona. He is married to Stephanie and has two sons, Spencer and Ethan.
