Governor appoints Mitchell to Arizona Commission
TEMPE, Ariz. - Governor Janet Napolitano has appointed Vice Mayor Mark
Mitchell to the Arizona Boards and Commission's Municipal Tax Code
Commission (MTCC) for a three-year term. The MTCC includes a non-voting
representative of the Department of Revenue and nine voting members
consisting of appointed mayors and council members of cities and towns who
have adopted the model city tax code.
The MTCC is responsible for reviewing and recommending model city tax code
changes, notifying cities and towns of code changes, maintaining records of
the changes and providing copies of the records to the public. The MTCC
meets on the second Friday of every other month and prepares an annual
report by Jan. 1 of each year.
"It is an honor to have been appointed to the MTCC," Mitchell said. "I am
proud to have this opportunity to serve the people of Arizona and the Tempe
community by offering appropriate and judicious direction concerning
municipal tax code."
The MTCC is among the 266 active boards and commissions in Arizona with
appointed government members. Arizona Boards and Commissions address a wide
variety of topics ranging from education to the environment.
