Exhibition features new artist-designed library cards
Public invited to artists' reception
TEMPE, Ariz. - The city of Tempe will display its new artist-designed
library cards during an exhibition from Feb. 1 through March 17 at the Tempe
Public Library Second Floor Gallery, 3500 S. Rural Road. A free public
reception for the artists will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 9 in the
gallery.
Through the competitive process, the city of Tempe Public Art Program
commissioned four Arizona artists to produce art which will be reproduced
onto city of Tempe library cards. Designs for the cards highlight
connections to the library and to the city's Tempe in Motion "bus, bike and
walk" campaign.
The new cards will be available at Tempe's library circulation desks in the
Spring.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature other works by the artists, who
are b royalty, of Tempe; Jennifer Kiraly, of Fountain Hills; Mary Lucking,
of Tucson; and Kate Timmerman, of Phoenix.
This public art project is supported by the city's Cultural Services
Division, Community Services Department, Tempe Public Library and
Transportation Division.
